I have noticed that a typical Progressive Electronics tone generator (toner) when clipped on a Nortel switch phone has a very low output.

Is there something that one can use that is better or louder?

My pe model 77hp works great. Check batteries in toner and wand, check volume on wand. Bad jacks and wiring and other equipment than phones plugged in such as someone plugging in a computer will drag down signal.

OLDER TONERS WILL BE LOADED DOWN IF A DIGITAL PORT IS CONNECTED

tracer 2 by progressive model 77hp/6a is the loudest on the market, another point to add to the above is the lamp color, if your getting a red when the tn is correct, then turn your plug over. the red light is series opposing, killing your tone. when placed on a jack with the light green, the tone is ten times louder back at the tn
