Tomcat as a service - 1067 error

I have installed Tomcat on a Windows 2000 server and it runs fine in interactive mode (from the DOS prompt). It is now set up as a service, which is how I need it to run. When I try to start it as a service, I receive the following error:
Could not start the Tomcat service on Local Computer

Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly

Any ideas on why this error occurs? Tomcat is running on port 8085 and IIS on 8080.
