I installed tomcat 5.5 and it works fine locally on my machine.

I go to another pc on the LAN and entered the and it doesn't work?

Does any know why?

In the server.xml file, I tried changing the Host info from <Host name="localhost" ...> to <Host name="ip address"...> but it doesn't work either.

What could be wrong?

than you in advance!

Don't change the <Host> entry from "localhost" - this is nothing to do with your error.

I expect that there is a firewall blocking access

i tried disabling the router's firewall and it's still not working.

i think the router itself is having issues.

i'll try to work with the manufacter support team. hopefully they can help me resolve this.

how abotu the local software firewall on the computer - is that allowing connections to your port?

Can you at least ping the ip.address?

I was able to ping the address.

And I disabled the computer's firewall and still doesn't work.

I called the ISP (Verizon DSL) and asked them if they block certain ports and they told me only port 80.

I tried connecting the modem directly to the computer instead of using the router. I tried with and without port forward and it doesn't seem to work.

I tried to get the ISP to help b/c the modem was provided by them. But they said they can't help and that I should call the manufacturer (Westell).

Contacted Westell and they said the modem was custom built for Verizon. So they refuse to help and redirected me back to Verizon.

So very annoying.

I went over to a friend's house and setup the webserver using his Comcast internet service. And it took less than 5 minutes to setup!! Plus, it works!!!!!

For whatever reason, Verizon filtering out http requests some how. I don't know, but I'm just going to switch over to Comcast.
