Hi ugu's,

Maybe someone knows what to do here.

I upgraded system and processor firmware on an IBM 7026-H70 from level
ROM Level.(non-alterable)...ss020419
ROM Level.(alterable).......SST02185

to level

ROM Level.(non-alterable)...ss040616
ROM Level.(alterable).......SST04195

After the upgrade I got this error message in errpt:

75CE5DC5 0621183805 I H tok1 ADAPTER ERROR
FFE305EE 0621183805 P H tok1 WIRE FAULT
75CE5DC5 0621183705 I H tok0 ADAPTER ERROR
FFE305EE 0621183705 P H tok0 WIRE FAULT

My guess is , the cards FW isnt compatible with the systems FW anymore. Problem is some ancient software thats been used here uses it as a loopback device.

Everyone I know who ever tried to update a tokenrings FW has successfully blown up the entire card :-S
Any of you have some tricks on how to 1: find firmware for cards which where made in the stoneage 2: how to update the firmware without killing the device?

1. This is where the adapter firmware lives:

2. Read the documentation, twice.
Make sure you are trying to load the correct firmware for the card.
Make sure the filesets for the card are up to date before you do the update.

You might want to wait for a blue moon and cross your fingers too......

blue moon eh? :p
well, The application that uses the token ring loopback device had an update, and doesnt require the device working anymore.
too bad, I wanted to post my findings here after upgrading the cards FW here. Maybe next time.

Thnx for your help :)

Michelle
