In generating a Table of Contents, can I mark a paragraph to be included in the TOC without every word in that paragraph being included in the TOC.

For example "Now is the time for all..." is my paragraph and I want it to be represented by "Time....36" in the TOC.

Please provide input.

Thanks, Christopher

Hey there,

you can either edit the generated TOC, BUT if, you have to re-generate it later, due to changes in the doc, all editing will be lost.
Or you can create an index, in which specify which words are used.

Hope that helps,
SnowWolf

Cristopher: I agree to to Snowwolf´s explanation.
And I would like to add, that a TOC should contain exactly
the chapter headlines, not even abbreviations.
It´s the principle of an automatically generated TOC,
that editing in the chapters updates the TOC, opposed to
a manually written or edited TOC. The same for TOI.
