TOC in word 1

I am using word 2013

When I try to insert Table of Contents it keeps showing things like :



{TOC \o "1-3" \u} rtaher than the actual table. I must have saved some setting somehow, I just cannot get it to show the table. It also seems to have upset the footer data - it just shows a code rather than the data

What you can see is the field definition for the TOC.

Press ALT-F9 to toggle between the definition and the result.

Its suddenly started to do this, I'm sure it never used to!

Word remembers the current setting and uses it next time.
