To synapsevampire:

I sent a question to you using the FAQ Comments option. As soon as I clicked Send, I realized that you probably wouldn't be able to respond to Comments. Here's my question again.

You wrote, "However using Views (never use tables directly!) lends itself..." Would you explain why tables should never be used directly?
