TO SET UP THE RAID SYSTEM

Hi, all
I am going to set up the raid system.
I know that there are two ways to make it.
First way is that use raid card.
Second way is that use ide controller card and use win xp pro utility as a drive manger and make a raid system.
My question is that which way is good and safety way?
Sorftware or Hardware..

A lot depends on why you want to use raid.
Software raid will never have the ability to do what you can with a good raid controller.

I don't know for sure but it seems to me that a hardware raid controler would do the job a lot faster then running one through software because it takes the workload on it self rather then on the rest of the system. with a hardware controler the system sees the control as the hard drive however with software its just simulated.
