to many windows opening

any time you click on links in my data base it opens a new windows at times you have as many as 10 windows open, what setting do i need to change so every thing stays within one window, does this have something to do with the got focus lost focus settings and if it does what code do i need to add to make this work right

Tools -> Options -> View -> Windows in taskbar
Uncheck the checkbox
