I am currently running the 10.0.359 version or NAV and like others I'm noticed my less stout machines are slowing to a crawl because the rtvscan.exe proccess is maxing the system to 100% at startup. I know I need to fix this and have downloaded the 10.0.1 version. What is everyone else doing.

Are you going back to 9 or installing the new version.

It seems alot are having issue wit the new 10...

That doscan.exe 100% CPU issue was resolved in maintenance release 1 (10.0.1). Make sure to update your symevent files after the upgrade, because you may run into a bluescreen upon initiating a backup with Veritas BackupExec or when you use Roxio Easy CD Creator.

1. upgrade to SAV 10.0.1
2. update symevent files

If you like to resolve the 100% CPU issue without going to MR1, you should take a look at the following article:

I will try to update the NAV to the MR1 and do the symevnt update.

Even the chance of one of my Server going all BSOD on me makes me want to just roll back to 9.0 though.

... and give up the beautiful spyware protection? Well... I don't blame you, but I expect future versions of SAV 10 to have plenty of bugfixes to make it a better experience.
I read that some people tend to wait for the first inline build of a product (10.1, not 10.0.1) before they give it a shot...

I very well remember Symantec Antivirus 8.0, where it could not scan a FAT32 drive on Windows 2000/XP (use NTFS to workaround the problem)

Well I've installed it on one of my server and pushed the new client out to all stations at the location. So far no issues and things seem to be running better. I did update my symevnt before updating though.

I'll give it a few more days and I'll go ahead and move our main location up the 10.0.100.

Do you think the spyware protection works very well?
