If a hosting site has Front Page 2000 server extensions, doesn’t that include Microsoft Access database support automatically.
I have my site with a Host and they say it does not. It does however support .ASP “Active Server Pages”.
The Database option in Front Page is grayed out.
What is the TRUE capabilities of FP 2000 Server extensions??
Does my Host need to update their Extensions to a newer version??

I also have access to a different site with the same HOST. It has all of the options including SQL Server, ASP support. It has the database feature available on it.

Let me know whats up with this.

TIA

Hi there-

Your hosting provider MUST support FrontPage extensions in order for your FP site to work correctly. When you create an .asp page in FP your hosting provider also needs to support these types of pages.

I believe, I'm not an expert but worked through this myself with my ISP about a month ago, it has to do with their server's capabilities of making ODBC connections.

If they don't have the extensions for FP it won't work. You'll be able to work locally off your own hard drive but that'll be it.

Many ISPs are offering this support so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding one.

Good Luck-
