Thanks for the tip, however I managed to fix it already, although I don't know how well. The directory with the problem had the file pdoxusrs.lck I realized that the other directories didn't have that, so I moved it out of the pdox environment. So far, so good. I am just not sure if I can delete it entirely.
I don't understand it, but somehow it must have gotten there during the installation.
The administrator admits he doesn't know Paradox. Everybody at our location has Microsoft software as default. I use Paradox because it suits my purposes much better.
The dumb part of all this, is that I am the only user of the program, so there is no reason I should be locked out.

*.lck and *.net files are used by Paradox to control locking of records in tables. Once nobody is using the Paradox/BDE application, it is safe to delete these files - Paradox will re-create the necessary files next time it is started. I use a small (home-brew) Delphi utility in the startup of all Paradox enabled PCs and servers. This searches and deletes all Paradox's .lck and .net files in local Paradox folders. I can forward if you give an email address (40 kbytes).

Jiminy,

Padraig's pretty much covered the basics; you can safely delete .LCK and .NET files...provided there are no BDE clients running. This includes Paradox, custom applications written with Delphi, C++ Builder and even certain JBuilder applications.

By and large, there aren't that many BDE clients running around these days.

Hope this helps...

If it is convenient I would the like the script that deletes the lck and net files off the local computer as well. (jbirdieh@olynet.com) Thanks.
