I've been trying to configure the TNSADMIN but neither tnsping nor sqlplus are searching for the path in this registry value, I've set the value in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->SOFTWARE->ORACLE.

Thanks in advance.

This is Unix-Land. In quiet nights, you can hear the Windows machines
reboot.

Hi,
The name is TNS_ADMIN ( note the underbar)- it can also be set in the Environment Variables ( as a SYSTEM varible)

By default is %ORACLE_HOME%\network\admin . You don't need to change it if your tnsnames.ora file is there.

Hope that helps,

Hi,
The default will be fine unless you move to a multiple oracle_home setup ( like to have 8.1,Des6i and 9.2 on the same PC) -
Then you will need to either specify one tnsnames.ora to use ( with the TNS_ADMIN ) or keep remembering to update all of them whenever changes are made..
