I have a problem connecting to an Oracle ver 8.1.6 database on my laptop.
Uptil about a week ago everything was fine, then I found I had a number of viruses on my laptop, so I installed the latest windows 2000 patches plus installed Firewall & Antivirus software and now I can't log onto the database.
I find I can start the OracleOraHome81TNSListener service on its own without a problem, I can start the database OracleServiceDB01 service on its own without a problem, but if I try and start both of them together I get the following error:
"TNSLSNR.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. You will need to restart program. An error log is being generated"
My first question is where is it generating the log?...my next and most important question is how do I resolve the problem???
Also, if I have lost some oracle files is re-installing the Personal Oracle for Windows 2000 software a possibility? (assuming that is I don't loose my database).
Your help would be much appreciated.
Regards
Yakum
