Hi,

I've started a new job - and I've got a Definity G3V11, and it contains 3 old TN750C Voice Announcement boards.

My last job was maintaining a Definity running CM2.2, and I had the 2500 series VAL boards. It was easy to make backups of these using Voice Annoucement Manager. I've not dealt with TN750's before. Currently, they're running voice-backups on an MO drive using the "save announcement" commands.

I'd like to run backups using VA Manager, but based on my research, I don't think 750's have IP addresses. Is there any way to make backups of the announcements using the manager, or am I just out of luck?

Also, Is there a command I can run to determine how full these boards are, and if there are any orphaned files on the board? (Another reason why I want to use Annoucment Manager).

Thanks.

I think your out of luck using VAL manager with the older board.

As far as looking at files on the board you could do a "list directory board 1A06 /annc". Obvious insert your board location. This command will show you all of the announcement files on the board. you can then check that against configured announcements to determine if any of the files are unneeded.

to make backups you need one flash card for each tn750
for g3si or g3csi

for g3r, you will need one optical diskette removable media for each tn750 that you want to backup

for each you would do save announcement board xxxx to a different flash card

It takes about 45 minutes for each to save or restore

simreal / AvayaTier3 - Thanks for your info. I guess VAM is out of the question.

AvayaTier3 - a question for you: If I'm correct, I can't shove in just any old MO disk to backup the annoucements. Don't they need to be formatted "the Avaya way" before using? How can I do this formatting myself? Do I need to have a dadmin/craft-level account to format? (I'm a super-user).

Also - does a VAL backup to MO disk during business hours render it inoperable, or can the backup be done during business hours?

Thanks.

optical diskettes are formatted by Avaya for different Definity software versions.

some versions like r10 can be used in r011

g3v6 can be used with g3v7, g3v8, g3v9

backups for valboards as well as backups from tn750 are not service affecting.

AvayaTier3 - Thank you very much. One last one for you: I was trying simreal's command to view VAL board files (list directory board), but I get the message that the board doesn't support the command.

I've read where these old 750C's require data modules to be set up to record announcements. However, when I run the list data-modules command, the only DM's I see which make sense are the annoucment boards which I know don't support the "list annn board" command.

I know "list annoucments" will give me a list of all annoucments on the boards, but I would like to see how full these boards are and if there are orphaned files. Is there another command that I can run?

AvayaTier3 - OK, I'm closer,

I found that if you run "Display integrated announcement-boards", you get board location, number of recordings, and time remaining in seconds.

Any way to display a list of all the files, not just the active ones in "list announcments"?

list integrated
will page through all the boards, val and tn750

list integrated xxxx (tn750 or valboard location = xxxx)

list announcement will list all announcement extensions

list directory /annc board xxxx will show .wav file information for each valboard

/annc is the folder where the .wav files are stored on each board

list directory board xxxx will show you firmware update files uploaded to a valboard to do a fw upgrade of this board
/ is default and is the root directory on the board's filesystem
