I'm trying to setup a TN464gp to an Ascend Multiband Plus for Video. We are using a G3SI CM2.0. Both the switch and imux are setup for isdn-pri, but the la light just blinks on the Multiband and the d channel won't come up. I'm using a 120a3 csu. The circuits are setup as follows:

The Ascend is setup as:

Any ideas?

Thanks,

On the DS1 circuit pack settings you may want to try changing the "Connect" field to "Host" or "Line Side"

Definitely need it set to "line-side" to provide timing for the video unit.

I just changed it to line-side, but the signalling group still shows out of service. Any other ideas?

Sorry, you also need a crossover T-1 cable between the Ds-1 card's CSU and the imux. TX and RX need to be crossed.

I tried replacing the cable with a crossover cable as well as a standard cat 5e cable. Neither one gives a connection at all. The cable I have has a db25 connection in the middle. It's the only one that even gives me a green light. The system used to work as configured, but was disconnected from the Definity in a vendor change. The manual says the physical connection is fine if I have a blinking light on LA, but something isn't configured right.

Here's the answer from the manual, but I don't understand what it's talking about with a non-inverted d channel.

Problem: This is a PRI Line and the LA LED blinks.
A blinking LA LED means that the physical configuration of the PRI line is correct but
the signaling channel—the D channel— is not communicating with the WAN.
Verify with your carrier representative that the D channel is channel 24, or whatever has
been configured in the Line Profile.
If the channel number is correct, check the value of the Line Encoding Line Profile
parameter. When B8ZS encoding is used, a non-inverted D channel is established. If
AMI encoding is selected, an inverted D channel is established. Check the line translations
provided by your carrier representative and set the line encoding to match the inversion
requirements.
If neither your WAN interface nor Multiband Plus is equipped with a CSU, or if you
have chosen the wrong line length or buildout Line Profile parameter values, this error
condition can result.
Finally, an ISDN PRI line is very much like a T1 line in that, if no equipment has been
plugged into the line for a short period of time, namely 5 to 10 minutes, the D channel is
taken out of service. You might need to contact your carrier to put the D channel back
into service.

I've got the d setup as 24 and all the translations are the same, but something must be missing.

Thanks,

You are using a crossover DS-1 cable right?????? It's not the same as a crossover ethernet.

1 to 4
2 to 5
4 to 1
5 to 2

on an 8 pair cable.

Thanks for the info on the ds1 crossover, but it didn't work. I finally played around with it enough and changed the protocol to b, must be AT&T, and it started working. I'd changed it before and it didn't work, but must've been the combination of changing it to line-side as well. Thanks for the help!

If the signaling group comes up but the channels won't you will need to change the Supplementary Service Protocol on the trunk group also.

Protocol "b" is for National ISDN-2 usually for connecting to a LEC type switch "a" is AT&T custom usually 5E/DMS200 type switches.
