TM 3.2 to 4.0 upgrade

After upgrading our multi site TM from 3.2 to 4.0, all of the switch types changed in TM to 1000S, you cannot change them back, nor will it allow you to select release 6. You can add a new site correctly, but I would rather not have to re-enter everything and loose a years worth of traffic. Any ideas?

tried opening one of the sites on the TM server and under File there is System Data (or something like that) retrieve it from the switch, then check.

The log window opens, it retrieves the system info, but does not update the data. (compare only is not checked)
