Tivoli Netview - cannot demand poll

Hi there,

We are running Tivoli Netview 6.0 on a Windows NT machine. For some reason today we are having the problem that netview is not able to poll the nodes in its database.

Actually when we are trying to do a demand poll an error message comes up in the nv.log file:

"[nmdemandpoll] Error: Cannot establish a connection with the Network Monitor (netmon) on the server. Also, check /usr/ov/log/nv.log on the server for possible errors.: Waiting for a process to open the other end of the pipe"

The error message says that the network path was not found. Test this from the server using the host.exe command:... 'host nvnt01' and see if the resolution is the client. If not, fix up lmhosts so it does. Name resolution is the ... biggest problem with client/server communication. The client to server communication is checked at install time,... but the server back to client is not. There is a note on this in the release notes.
Demandpoll needs connectivity back to the client. To do this the server needs to be able to resolve the client's ip
... address.
The connectivity was failing because the NetView account on the client was not getting created ... during the install with the correct password.
