Im using a title attribute as a tool tip for a select element inside a td. The tool tip does not show up in IE. If I place the title attribute to the td, I get a tool tip, but not when hovering over the select elements. Any ideas? Is there a different attribute tag that I should be using?

Thanks,
Todd

Title as a tool tip is supported on most elements on ie and alt is a tool tip for images. Unfortunatly for you IE doesn't support (title attribute/property
of <select> elements as a tool tip)AFAIK, but Mozilla and most other browsers do.
If you really need it you could try javascript.

The tool tip does not show up in IE.
Much has been written about this. IE chooses not to implement that specification.

Not quite. The 'alt' attribute is [!]not[/!] a 'tool tip for images'. It is designed to give a brief description of an image (usually for the benefit of those with images disabled)... it just so happens that IE will use it as a tool tip if no 'title' attribute is present.

Well, I appreciate all the responses and was hoping the result would be better. I'll find some javascript to implement a tool tip and I think I saw one on this forum.

Thanks,
Todd
