Titan 5500 - does anyone have a password recovery procedure for the Titan 5500? I installed a re-use for a customer to do circuit pack testing (not being used in any network) and customer doesn't need to buy new software for simple board verification. I get the 5500 to boot up and I receive messages but I can't login with the default password and it won't accept any TL1 messages from me (password has changed). Is there a way to use the front RJ-45 connector on the SPM to bypass the current password and set it to default? I have tried to do the first time initialization but I only have a copy of upgrade disks (10.0 to 11.0) so the password file is never deleted.

I can't think of a password recovery procedure for the Tellabs Titan 5500. You might need to contact Tellabs support.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

Since this is a non-working system, I used the procedure to initialize the AC complex and changed the UM password. Does this change the system wide password also - I can can't log into the system even after I completed the initialization.

The UM password is different than the system password.

The only way to get the system password reset is through Tellabs Support because they do have their own ability to access the system.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

Thanks for the advice Dexman.

As it turns out, I reversed two steps in the initial boot procedure document and got the default password to take. So now I can login. Now all I have to do is build the rest of it. Of course, a live system wouldn't have this flexibility. Luck does help.

With me, it's about 99% luck, 1% know-how. [lol]

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.
