I will be installing a new version sofwtare cart in our Norstar MICS system. We currently have version 4.0 software and are upgrading to version 5.0.

So, I need to know if I can just power the system down, take out the old cart, and put in the new cart. Is there anything else that I need to do for the upgrade?

Thanks,

Steven

Yes, there is not much to it. However if you have a NAM voicemail you will need to install a "patch" so that it will work with your new 5.0 software. And NAM needs to be 4.0, which it should be if you are currently running 4.0 on your KSU.

You should only have to power down; take out the old PCMCIA SW card, put in the 5.0 PCMCIA card and power up. You shouldn't have to replace the cartridge at all. This way you won't lose programming or anything.

Then, of course, you will need to install a patch in any NAM you might have as Roldan stated. MRoberts

Thanks for the advice.

Re the patch for the NAM (we have v4.0 of the NAM) - is this a physical cartridge, or do I install the software some other way? Where do I get the patch?

Thanks,

Steven

The patch is two files that are on a bootable disk. All you have to do is power down the NAM, insert the disk, power up. It is finished when it gives you two beeps. Power back down, remove the disk and power back down.

That's it. I can email you the files if you'd like. All you have to do is to put a formatted disk in your drive. Go to My Computer and right click on the A: drive. Go to Format, then when the format screen comes up you'll see in the first section a choice that says, Copy system files ONLY. Click on that box and click start. When finished you have a bootable disk. Then right click on the files I will send you and save to your A: drive with the disk in it.

That's it. MRoberts

Hi MRoberts
I'm interested in that nam upgrade sw. I guess it could get handy if ever I have to upgrade a customer, yet I don't really know the differences between ics software versions.

Hey MRoberts,

I wouldn't mind getting those patch files from you if you don't mind. My email is mcisar@starmania.net

Cheers and thanks,
