We have a server running 2000 sp4 supporting 10 clients and all has been fine for many years, all of sudden things have started to go wrong, random reboots, strange noises etc etc

Management have decided to stump up the cash and go straight to Server 2008 standard on a brand new box and have given me the job to get it all working - is the best way to just put the working server and the new box next to each other (new one NOT on the network) and just copy/configure the users, shares and then copy the needed user/app data across from old to new or is there a faster, simpler way?

Any advice is good!

No problem, I can have a good search through all the posts now I am out of the head office with them all breathing down my neck demanding "Can it be done?", "How long will it take", "When you going to finish" etc....
