Tips for link analysis

I wonder if anyuone has had experience with link analysis
i.e. suppose we have one or more tables

A1 B1
A2 B1
A3 B2
A4 B1
...

and want to answer "for each ai find all bj'w connected to it". Is there any special trick in setting up the tables for optimizing such a job?
