I'm not sure if this tip will apply to the MICS in North America, but one of my colleagues had a blown Norstar with around 80 extensions that were all on different ports due to extension relocation being used.

We don't have the means to use NRU on the early Norstar versions and we also don't have that many left these days, but we were lucky in having a spare CCU that came from a recovered site.

We thought that you may like to know that it's possible to swap out the power unit leaving all the programming intact.

I've done a guide with pretty pictures to explain how to get to the power unit as it's not something that should be done.

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

how does this save the programming? why do you take the cabinet apart?

I'm at office and see picture now.

Looks the same however you only need to take out the top and the bottom screws out of the PS then the PS will just slide out, no need to split the cabinet apart.

"how does this save the programming?"

Programming resides on KSU, you would be surprised how many vendors think just because their is no power that the KSU needs replacing when they can just swap out the PS in 2 minutes while it's still on the wall.

Same goes for CICS cabinet, there is a fuse behind where the power cord enters the CICS at the bottom....vendors replace cabinet instead of fuse.
