In InDesign CS2, it is possible to make a percentage tint of a CMYK mix, by creating a new tint swatch from the colour palette. Is there anything comparable in Illustrator CS2? Or do you have to go via the rounabout route of converting your CMYK colour to a spot colour, adjusting the slider to the percentage and then once the tint swatch is created, converting it back to CMYK? Seems very roundabout and inefficient to me.

You don't have to make a spot. Just add a new CMYK swatch, leave the type as Process Color and check the Global box. Works just like a spot colour, only it's still CMYK. You can even give it its own name too!

Thanks Blueark. I will try it tomorrow.
