Perhaps there is no way....

Can the original file creation date be preserved when saving an attachment? Using outlook 2003 and Exchange 2000.

first check the document properties of the attachment and see if the person that originated it printed it. if they did you will see a date other than the date you downloaded it.

another option is to have the track changes option selected, if this is a collabortive document, the porperties should contain all dates.

document management is a tough thing to set up. to be sure you have the correct/final/authorized copy of something requires policies be in place and management controls adhered to.

or if you just want to know when the attachment was created ask the person to include the date in the header/footer.
