InDesign opens a dialogue box that asks if you want to "Find Font" I say ok and select times and pick a new font and say change all yet times still shows up as missing. It doesn't seem to affect the document but no matter what font I pick no matter how many times I try to replace it, it still shows up as missing.
Any ideas or suggestions.

That's the default font, meaning that when you open a new document, it's the one that would be the active font without selecting it.

If you didn't use the font in the document, you really don't have to worry about it. if you di use it, make sure you didn;t lock a text box that uses it.

If you want to change the default font, launch ID but don't open a document. Open the Character window and pick a font. Quit ID. Relaunch and the font you just selected should be the default and stay that way till you repeat the procedure.

This answer works sometimes. But the dreaded Times New Roman also lodges itself into empty graphics, eg a cut our wave shape. When I placed an Illustrator file into InDesign it brought in a Times New Roman hash that was not in the original.

If you use Edit/Preflight you can at least locate the guilty party. AT times just changing the font in the Character paletter works. At other times I have had to recreate the graphic. Times New Roman causes problems too often and causes untold loss of time. This should not be in a publishing package where time is money - not to mention frustration.

if you use Type--Show Hidden Characters, you can see visually where text boxes are. Most often, designers will use text boxes as color fields in IDCS2. Just look for the # which denotes the end of a paragraph. If you have a box with just # in it, select that box, go to Object--Content and select "graphic" or "unassigned".
