I recall being able to set an OS8 or OS9 Mac to start and shut down at a certain time. Can this be done in OSX?

Hi Jimboblak,
You sure can!

Product Description:
iBeeZz offers full management of your Mac activity with complete Mac OS X integration. It can be used as a complete alarm clock.

Thanks to iBeeZz, you can schedule when your Mac will:

sleep,
wake up,
shut down,
startup,
and restart.

It's shareware (10 euros) Not sure what that works out to in $$, and couldn't see a way to pay for it in US currency.
Best of luck!
PT

Found another one:
Best of all, this one is freeware :)
Product Requirements:
Mac OS X

What's new in this version:

Admin password is now required to install the boot script
Wake from sleep
Daily wake up

Product Description:
Back with OS 9, you were able to schedule your Mac to automatically turn on. Apple omitted this from MacOS X. After a lot of digging I finally figured out how to do it.

Hope that helps!
PT
