aix/perts,

is there a way i can extend the timeout for telnet and ftp sessions?

shells usually times out after $TMOUT or $TIMEOUT seconds of no command - so unset TMOUT ; unset TIMEOUT and that's it
ftp timeout is daemon specific, so her manual will tell you more

any anti-idle tool like ftp no-op or telnet space+backspace etc helps in some cases

Hello,
in one of the setting for tcpip there is a keep alive timer that you can change to keep the session alive lot longer.
