timeline tracks missing

What happens if you start a new sequence? Do the tracks all show up then?
If not, try a different workspace.
If that doesn't fix it, you could try a default preferences file. I don't have CS3 yet, but older versions did this by starting PPro with CTRL+SHIFT held down. You need to reinstate scratch disks etc in Preferences after starting afresh with Preferences.
