gurus,

i just ned to ask where can i download a software that can syncronize both my servers. something like NTP for AIX? ANyone??
Im using 2 6m1 clustered using HACMP. and connected to a backup server that runs solstice. So, everytime this backup application runs, it sends us email that both servers are not syncronize... any ideas??
thanks!

Hi,

setclock must be entered in all machines eccept one
( the target of setclock command): you can put in a
script launche from inittab. This may be useful, if the
"called" client are often rebooted )as workstations.

If all machines are alaways up, you have to repeat
this command some time to avoid that you servers are
synchronized 2 or 3 times in a year.
I don't think the best way is to use crontab to launch
this command, becouse this may lead to loop situations.

Another way is to set up time daemon subserver (timed)
Use "smitty tcpip", Further.., Server N. Services, Other ..., timed
or "smitty otherserv" to set up time daemon.
In one of the machine, set the
server (elect) to be a master (use always smit).

Take care of this configuration: if in your network
ther is already a master time daemon, wanted or NOT!,
(other unix systems starts fors defaults as time master)
the global time of your systems, may be an average of
all server.

Choice you which is your best solution.

Bye
Vittorio
