Hi all,

I have a problem of synchronization between two HP machines running on HPUX 10.
The machines are being used for telecom applications so it's vital for them to be prividing the same time stamp for both applications.

Is there some application that can be configured on one machine to take the synchronization pluse from the other one?

Or do we have other methods to solve this problem?

You can install the NTP Service on the two Servers. One can be the Server, the other a client. I have provided a sample for you, please refer to the on-line documentation CD provided for more on NTP

client :

Client /root # more /etc/ntp.conf
broadcastclient yes

Server :

Server:/#more /etc/ntp.conf
server 127.127.1.1 prefer
fudge 127.127.1.1 stratum 1
broadcast 10.10.51.255 version 3

Server:/#more /etc/rc.config.d/netdaemons
export NTPDATE_SERVER
export XNTPD=1
export XNTPD_ARGS=

hi mahdood,

thanks for the reply. Please do cerrect me if i'm wrong in understanding your response. In the server part of your message, what are the IP addresses given in front of server & fudge.
Is the IP address given in front of broadcast , the IP of the client?

thanks for your help!

On client's ntp.conf you give server's ip
on servers's ntp.conf file you give IP address of external source ip.
