Time service issue, I have 2 domains Domain A and Domain B

Domain A has 2 servers one running windows 2003 the other running windows 2000 with Citrix.

Domain B is connected to domain A through a trust and users from Domain B connect to Domain A through Citrix.

Domain B's time doesn't keep and within a week it is usually about 10 min faster than Domain A. Domain A's time keeps true.

Because of this issue Domain B users can't log into Domain A when the time is off by 10 minutes.

I would like the time to be taken from my Domain A PDC (Windows 2003) and replicated to all other servers but for some reason it won't take. I am using windows time service and pointing to NTPSERVER:nist1.ny.glassey.com

Can anyone shed some light on this for me? how woudl I tell my other servers to get thier time from my PDC? Under NTPSERVER in the Regestry key I put my servers IP address in there but it didn't seem to work.

"If the computers belong to an Active Directory domain, the Windows Time service configures itself automatically by using the Windows Time service that is available on domain controllers. The Windows Time service configures a domain controller (PDCe) in its domain as a reliable time source and synchronizes itself periodically with this source. You can modify or overwrite these settings, depending on your specific needs. "

For the DC's: Net time \\computername /querysntp
Net Time /? will show you how to /setsntp your PDCe to an outside source

Thank you, since this is a completely different Domain likely the time isn't going to get replicated unless I specify it to.

I have set net time on Domain B to point to Domain A through IP address but it hasn't worked.

Is the time going out of sync a likely cause of an old battery in the bios? Problem is this Server is quite distant from me and I am not physically accessible.

Thanks

It is possible. Also, if you point both PDCe's at the same time reference and they still become 10 minutes apart, then I would look into a hardware issue.

Just FYI, I use tick.usno.navy.mil for my PDCe. But there are lots of them out there to point to. Point Domain A and B at the same outside location.

Thank you, going on vacation for one week as of tomorrow will see how it goes when I return.

When I point to the time servers should I see the time sync instantly?

Thanks for the help.

I did a bunch of virus checks on the server out of sync and so far nothing, maybe it's the battery but I figured it wouldn't matter if the computer is left turned on.

Thanks Again.
