I am looking for a component or any direction that would help me develop a time server that would sit on a computer and allow our company to point all of our internal computers to it.

I have seen several nice freeware and shareware programs that run on a computer and access the internet for time servers. However, we have a Leitch master clock that keeps all of our internal clocks in the company in sync. I am looking for software or a way to develop software that updates the BIOS on a computer. If the BIOS is correct,
then I can use that as a server.

Any ideas?

Thanks

ActiveDirectory in Windows2000 will synchronize all your PC's clocks (they must be running Win2k as well).

Otherwise, take a look at the Naval Observatory's site:

They have links to time-keeping software and hardware.

Just a thought - we have an NT network here and there's a command in everyone's login script like this:

net time \\masterserver /set /yes

A very simple way to set the time for everyone that logs into the network. No programming needed. It just goes to "masterserver" and gets the time, and sets it locally.

You can also accomplish this using VBScript - see my FAQ in the VBScript Forum. That way, you could write one central VBScript, and if your users are all NT based, you could get away with doing an hourly AT Job to run the script and set it every hour. If my post was helpful, please Mark it below. Thanks! - Al
