I've set up my PDC emulator pointing to an external time server, and checked that via w32tm and it is working OK.

If I type net time /querysntp it gives me the correct external time server.

But if I type net time I get the time as of another internal server - why?

This also happens from other machines that are pointing to the PDC emulator.

Hi JeminaS,

You can always check how your Time service is setup: just start regedit and follow the path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\Parameters

The most 2000 domains use this setting :
- Each member server uses Domainsynchronization (that is the registry key value: Nt5DS)
- 1 or more DC's refers to a external time source. (NTP-server) The registry key "type" has a value of "NTP"

This works great for our 2000 domain.
For more info. Check "timeserv.doc" at Microsoft, it's all in the document. (I can mail it to you also...)
Good luck. DJ
