I've just moved server and am having problems with a timeout accessing through Remote Desktop. Firstly and it's not a big deal is when i have an active session but have not done anything for a few minutes it times out and stops any programmes i might be running. Is it in my control to change the length of time for the time out? Secondly and a much bigger deal is if i access my server through remote desktop and start a programme running and then disconnect from the server by clicking x on the top right corner of the window, i get a message saying my programs will continue to run, if i log back in a couple of minutes the programmes are still running but if i leave it any longer then nothing is running. My server company are saying it's all down to me. Any advice would be gratefully received.

thanks

mike

You probably want to change the timeout values in Terminal Services Configuration (available via Administrative Tools).

In there, right-click on the RDP-Tcp connection and select Properties, choose the Sessions tab, and change the values as required.

for time-outs/disconnects - change idle time before disconnect # of minutes

for ending of disconnected session after a few minutes...can simply use never end a disconnected session setting

all inside of ts configuration (or ts manager..one of the two)
