My Servers all run 10 mins fast it is driving me insane I have set the time correctly and as soon as I turn my back the cheeky monkeys decide that they want to go home early and creep forward by 10 mins. Is there something in the Bios that could cause this? They are HP LH4 servers. Or is it something else?

Regards Always Early!

Yeah BIOS clocks are notoroiusly bad. They were never designed as real clocks but more as the "heart-beat" of the computer system.
I'd check your time synchronisation (there's a SET parameter to get the timesync debug screen in NetWare 5x). That'll tell ya which server(s) are getting ahead of time and dragging everyone else with them.

If you've left the time sync. setup as per defualkt,. then CHANGE IT! By default, one clock controls all the others and if that one clock is fast, so will all the others be.

You can always conect your time sync. system to an external reference server, like the sony internet time service (which uses NTP, so you'd have to get the NTP updates from Novell).

Hope this helps

Definately configure a REFERENCE source with an external time source. NTP would be good if you can get it working, here in the UK we use serial-connected radio clocks.

Thanks to both of you we were already set up to an external time source but incorrectly so I have now removed that set the time corectly on all our servers and now they all run perfectly. Will endevour to get the external time source working I think the problem before was that they were originally set up in the US. Now I will link them to the digital radio things sounds like more fun! Anyway thanks for the help.
