Hi,

My w2k server keeps losing time by 10 minutes. How do I connect to a time server?

Cheers,

Dzon

Open Regedit - go to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\W32Time\Parameters

In here, you should fine the Win2K NTP settings. If you want a list of servers on the web - do a google search for "public NTP" servers.

Anyway - you should have a String value called "ntpserver" - put a working NTP server in there, I'm using ntp-2.vt.edu right now.

If you do that, it should sync the time up. Our server seems to work fine using this.

Oh - make sure the Dword value "LocalNTP" is Zero too - or it might just try looking for time updates from Active Directory. You might need to set the type to "nt5DS" too.

Heck, I'll just export that whole reg string below, if you like... If you want, paste everything below here into a text file with the extension "reg" and import it into your registry. But - of course, make a backup first, I certainly can't be responsible for any problems it may cause...

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
