Hi,

We upgraded from 5.5 to CS1000M 7.5 CCP4 card with VXWorks and after the upgrade we notice every week the time is off by 2 min. We are thinking of configuring it to NTP server but just wondering if anyone has a solution instead of configuring to NTP Server. Thanks
 
Why not use a NTP server if you have one? Other then that you're going to have to adjust your DTA settings in LD 2.
 
No we don't have an NTP server so will need to setup one. I was just looking on info if someone had seen this problem because it was working fine before the upgrade. Thanks anyway.
 
On several of our systems that have been upgraded, we have seen a big swing in the adjustments we had to make in LD 2 to keep the PBX tracking close to the correct time. Previously adjustments would be in the range of 20 millisecs, now it is closer to 250 millisecs or more.
 
I would be surprised if you don't have an NTP. Ask your network guys, but I will usually clock off the Core Network Switch. In 7.5 just be sure to set your UTC Offset.
 
I use NTP to keep the time up to date on all of our newer PBX's. When you use the Core network switch for example, your phone time will always match the PC time! Very handy for those clock watchers.

It usually takes several adjustments to get it correct, but until you have another method (eg NTP)...
 
Save the routine headaches of people bugging you about the phone's time and automatically sync it up to an NTP server. If you don't have one internally - you can either have your IT guys punch a hole in the firewall for you and you can sync up to a number of public NTP sources (UDP port 123 to allow the TLAN IP address of the PBX to hit your NTP server of choice), or have them set one up on a server somewhere internally.
