Time Format -table

How can I create a number/time format (hh:mm or hhh:mm) which can be added, subtracted etc. which does not adhere to the 24h convention ie. negatives and numbers larger than 24h allowed without converting to days, all this within an table

Basicially, you have to convert the time to a real number such as 3:45 would be stored as 3.45 hours. After adding up your numbers you convert them back to a string representation of Days and hours and minutes.

The above link also refers to another link with more code concerning this issue. I have programmed this type of thing successfully and it works quite well.
