Hi,
I am trying to the size of a field on a table from 25 to 30 char. When I try and save it I get a time out expired message. The table is only 13,000 recs. It has a lot of fields on it. The table size is around 9 meg. There are 3 indexes on it also. Is seems like I get this message after about 30 seconds. Is there a place where I can override the time out? I can't seem to find it.

Thanks,

Can we get a look at a bit of the code? It may be the case that you are blocking yourself in some manner.

May want to check the activity monitor when you fire off the update and see if you can pick any info off.

Thanks

There is no code. I am simply changing the table layout in sqlserver 2005 in design mode. I am changing a field from a varchar(25) to a varchar(30). Nothing crazy. When I go to save it, it the error. Normally on a smaller table, there is no affect on this. I know that order entry is using that table all day long. I would think it was able to run for another 30 seconds I could get the file to be saved.

JayKusch,
Sounds logical. Where do I do this ? I make my changes from Enterprise Manager. I do not see a place where to alter the table. I can edit or design. What does the alter do differently ?
Thanks,
