'time' - an obsolete service?

Hello,

Is the 'time' service on AIX 4.3.3 and AIX 5.2 considered obsolete and can be disabled without any effect on the host server?

Hi!

I do not know if it is obsolete, but you can disable it if you want to. You can use xntpd to maintain time sync between hosts, as it is part of basic installation of AiX (Both 4.3 and 5.2)
