Is there a reason the tiff image I am trying to display will not display? If I change the image I want to display to a jpeg, both in the same directory, it shows fine. I also tried it in an applet and it freezes.

If you are looking to put the image on a web page you would be better converting it to gif, jpg, or png format. Most graphics packages will allow you do do this. Infinity exists! - I just haven't worked out a way to get there yet.
.tif's are images just like .jpg's or .bmp's or whatever. If you want a more document like structure, look into the .pdf format. Else put it up as a .jpg with a link to the .tif image that someone can download if they so want to.
.tif images aren't supported in browsers because quite frankly they don't need to be. Not everyone has a T3 connection to download a page of .tif images when a reasonable alternative with .jpg's can be downloaded with a 56k modem no problem.
Well they are not just like .jpg'ss or .bmp's because tiff images can have multiple images inside one file. So it looks kind of like a pdf in that it can have "pages" but at a reduced size. That is why most scanned documents are put in tiff format and not put into a jpg, gif, or other image format.
Which brings me back to my question anyone know where I can find a good java applet viewer, has to be an applet, we have an active X one but it won't do, the viewer does not have to be free.
