This hasn't always been the case, but for some reason, when I make images needing transparent backgrounds and save them as TIFFs using the Help wizard for saving transparency, they are given a black background. I am using the version of PhotoShop that is part of Adobe InDesign Creative Suite. I'd be grateful if someone has a moment to explain what I need to do to correct this problem.

Hmmm, I've never really used the "Export Transparent..." thing in the Help menu, but from memory doesn't it only allow you to save as .gif or .png?

Anyway, if you want a .tiff, just make sure your actual image you are working on has a transparent background and then go to Save (or Save as) Tiff and check the 'Save Transparency' box in the Tiff Options panel.

Depends a bit on where these images with transparent backgrounds are going. If into a layout app, you will probably have to create a clipping path.

Thanks to both of you for taking the time to respond!
