We have a problem with a TIE that I was hoping someone could held with.

Currently the TIE trunk is working fine via a PRI (AT&T) circuit. A few months ago the decision was made to install 72 strands of private fiber between our two locations. 6 miles is the length. Everything with that went fine and now we want to move off the PRI circuit and connect our two switches via the private fiber.

So, we bought two Omnitron Systems FlexPoint T1/E1 Copper to Fiber Media Converters and tried to connect the two switches. We get link lights and all. All seems good. When I try to bring the loops back up the D channel will not come up. Stays in Red alarm.

Does anyone have experience with these FlexPoint T1 Media Converters? Do we need to build the trunks and D channel a specific way? Like I mentioned above, they work fine over the PRI. Just not across the fiber.

Our main campus is a CS1000 at 4.5. Our remote location is a 11c at 3.0

Thank you,

Make sure you are using one of the line coding methods that are supported by the converters. Also, if you loop them back locally and remotely do the PRI circuits come up (in wrong mode)? Have you tried building a plain T-1 and see if that will come up thus minimizing options that could be wrong? Lastly, I think there may be a cross over switch on these units, is that set correctly? (only one would need to be switched)
Hope this helps, good luck!

I've had to set channel 24 in some drop insert muxes as a data channel to get the d channel to come up.
