I'm setting up some TIE lines between an Asterisk VOIP system and our existing Nortel Option 11C. I've got calls going back and forth with steering codes etc. just fine, but I get weird behavior when I try to use our existing POTS T1 from Asterisk, like this:

POTS T1 -> TIE T1 -> VOIP works just fine
VOIP -> TIE T1 -> POTS T1 fails after ringing 5x, no matter what number, local or long distance

Calls between Nortel and VOIP extensions work fine.

But a call from a VOIP extension to another trunk (our outside 9, in this case) just rings for a while, and then is dropped. A call coming in (from the POTS "9" lines) terminates just fine to a VOIP extension.

An outgoing (VOIP -> PSTN) call trace looks like this:

trac 0 12 1

ACTIVE TN 001 13
ORIG 002 01 TIE RMBR 12 1 (TIE lines on route 12)
TERM 001 13 COT RMBR 5 13 (T1 COT from PSTN lines route 5)
TDTN 0 SLOT 21 PTY SLOT 5
DIAL DN 9xxxxxxx (obscured by me)
MAIN_PM DIAL AUX_PM NOOUTPULSE
TALKSLOT ORIG 5 TERM 5
QUEU NONE
CALL ID 0 37

---- ISDN PRA CALL (ORIG) ----
CALL REF # = 12
BEARER CAP = VOICE
CALL STATE = 7 CALL RCV
CALLING NO = 4434 (VOIP extension)
CALLED NO = 9xxxxxxx (obscured by me)

Does anyone have any thoughts about this? I'll be happy to post the output of whatever LDs or DCH messages needed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
jermudgeon

FIXED

I had to turn off CLID passing from Asterisk for these calls. Then my telco would terminate them.

Hope this helps someone else, too.
