I have a new S8300/G700 that replaced a key system. There is a trunk group that contains one member, an analog OPX from another Definity. The intent is to use as a tie line.

To use the tie line, caller has a speed dial button (labeled "Site #2") that dials the TAC of the tie line, e.g. 812). So, caller presses the speed dial, then hears dial tone, and dials the three digit extension number they want to reach at Site#2. Caller hears ringing, then intercept tone.

Problem is the local S8300 times out after waiting for more digits (7 digits). It appears to be expecting this is a local call. I was able to successfully make a call by dialing TAC, 231 1111, and was connected with x231 at Site#2.

What can I change so the S8300 does not think these are 7 digit calls? Or perhaps I need to set it to allow 3-digit calls on this trunk group...?

Any ideas appreciated.

The trunk group should be administered as group type 'CO' and a trunk type of loop-start. The Dial Access field should be set to 'y'. The Cut-Through field should be set to 'y'.

group type "co" expects all calls to be 7, 10, or 11 digits.

group type "wats" will work with any number of digits.

TAC + digits and # as last digit should work.
