Is there a way to number tickets in Indesign, simular to auto numbering of pages, but to items on pages that are consistant. For example tickets ranging from 001 to 500.
I think you have to get a numbering program to do that.... I'm not sure what's available for Mac, but on PC we use a program called Number Machine. The only downside is that you have to print the job first, then run it through again for the numbers -- there's no way to print the page and numbers at the same time.
I have used the auto page numbering feature for some things from Quark, but it only works if you're printing one up. If you try to run, say 8 tickets to a page, they're all going to get the same number.
I think you could probably do this via scripting. If each ticket contained a field tagged/labeled with a unique ID, then a script could search the layout, find the fields and insert iterating numbers into those fields. That way you could create as many tickets on a sheet as you want.
Run your problem by the scripters on the InDesign scripting forum on the Adobe web site.
