I am running ageforce 4 ti 4600 card on the game UT 2004 and the game laggs awhole lot. The funny thing is that the game in the lowest settings possible laggs the same as the game in the higest settings possible. so it is basically after every shot, and this is exactally the same for any variation of settings.
please help me my machine has gone to hell, in the begging when i bought it it was fine, games like mohha worked perfectally, now they lagg like a B#$%@ and it is annoying.
I was also wondering how do you check the fps rate on the games?

When I upgraded my mobo I had the same problem with GTA VC. go to the bios and make sure the agp setting is the same as your card ie, agp 4x or 8x etc. That fixed mine. Also make sure the drivers are up to date. let me know how it goes

Ya I tried that but in the bios all it says is agp or pci card and the size of the car? and i made it to the specifacations for the card and it still does not work i have the newest nvidia drivers the 53.1 i think.
thanks for the reply though!

I know the general advice is to use the latest drivers available for the card, unfortunately newer drivers on older cards often lead to lower performance, sometimes this can be quiet significant as much as 20% slower than older driver that were better optimised for that GPU.
I remember my old GF4 4800Ti would bench around 12,500 points with older 40.03? and less than 10,000 with the newer 53.10's
If my memory serves me right, mine used to be laggy as well with the newer drivers installed.
Just goes to show the best drivers for any given card are usually a couple or three releases after the GPU was introduced (best optimization's for that graphics chipset)

I had a Geforce ti 4200....similar to your card. There are a few tricks to boost performance of your video card that you can set in your card's settings in windows. It will help your gaming expierence if you turn off anti-aliasing and vertical sync. To do this, go to your video card settings (right click on desktop and go to properties) Once you do that, you will either see you company's name that made the card (nvidia in your case) or you have to go to the settings panel, and then click on advanced. Most geforce cards are found there, thats where mine was found. You can then change settings for direct3d or opengl. Most games run in Direct 3d or both, so change anti aliasing to always off or 0 and vertical-sync to 0 as well. I did this for a game called Counter-Strike and gained 50 frames per second. Also, UT 2003-04 are big games and might require a faster system, but you did not give your system specs. Checking FPS in a game depends on the game, and might be found on the internet or in the manual, but you have to you console to put in the command (pressing the "~" key in game).
