What will the selections take the user to, I am assuming each thumbnail when clicked would take the user to another page, that is in some way related to the image?
It may be best if you can tell us what your page is for.

Hi,
I am attempting creating a site with samples of images.
Each image has a thumbnail that I would like to contain in a list on the right of the screen but which uses a scroll bar so I can control the size of the page reagrdless of the number of thumbs.
When a user clicks on a thumb, a large sample of the image appears in the main area of the page. If this can be done all on one page then cool. If I have to have a page per large sample and navigate to it when the user clicks on a thumb then that no problem either.
